Current Status:

Construction & School Preparation: City Centre Elementary is still under active construction and remains closed to visitors for safety. According to the school’s June update, Mr. Cameron has moved into the school to begin organizing resources, materials, and books as the district team continues preparing the building for September opening.
Official School Name Confirmed: The Richmond Board of Education has approved the official name City Centre Elementary School for the new school at 8671 Odlin Crescent. The name reflects the school’s geographic location within Richmond’s City Centre.
2026 Timeline: The school remains scheduled to open in September 2026, serving families in Richmond’s growing city centre area. SD38 has also confirmed the approved catchment area following public engagement and board approval.

Note for Parents: The new catchment has now been approved. Families whose school placement is affected will receive direct communication from the district with address-specific school placement information. Families not affected by the catchment change will not see changes to their current school placement.
